The Blood Bank at JPMC is PAF’s flagship project and is listed as the third largest blood bank in Pakistan. PAF is committed to its running and sustenance, organizing blood camps throughout the year and ensuring that each pint is screened for HIV, Hepatitis B, and C and Malaria Parasite. It dispenses over 300 pints per day to various wards of JPMC, providing efficient service and saving many lives.

PAF also manages the software and conducts grouping, cross-matching and screening of blood in its own laboratory. This is all done in accordance with the highest international standards and the PAF Blood Bank is also Quality Assurance Certified from Australia.

In 1986 Blood Bank JPMC established the first AIDS Screening Laboratory in the country. In 1992 after realizing that blood from the professional donors carries the highest risk of transmission of Hepatitis B, C and HIV / AIDS, Blood Bank JPMC stopped entertaining all kinds of professional blood donations in their premises with great support by Patients’ Aid Foundation. The term 1998-1999 will be remembered for its further efforts to make blood products available for the need of JPMC patients as much as possible.

In 2004 Blood Bank JPMC got the registration from Sindh Safe Blood Transfusion Authority and has become the member of among the few registered blood banks in the province.
Other procedures and facilities include, but are not limited to Plasma Pheresis procedures (On an average 40 procedures per month) free of cost, and Apheresis platelets (Mega unit platelets) around 500 kits are provided free of cost.
